First Do No Harm
Question: Suppose a fellow climber has taken a serious fall and lies on the ground unconscious, bleeding from cuts and barely breathing. What is the first thing one should do? And how do you know if your actions don't do more harm than good? We didn't really know. So it definitely wasn't too soon to learn how to handle outdoor emergencies. Our team enrolled in the most recent Wilderness First Aid course. Shani conducted a lively session filled with many real-life anecdotes and of course, the obligatory "gross-out" clinical photos. We also had lots of hands-on practice - doing CPR on Annie the plastic dummy, wrapping one another up with bandages and then the highlight of the day: tying Lay Hoon up in a rope stretcher.
