This deck description was kindly contributed by the Derek Glidden. As it was very detailed, I felt that it was more appropriate that it had its own page. Feel free to E-mail him.

Each card in this unusual yet beautiful deck has an intricate hand-painted image, in a style reminiscent sometimes of Olivia or Boris Vallejo. The illustrations are a mixture of traditional and modern imagery. (For example, "The Chariot" is an Indy car and driver's helmet.) Other than the main figure(s) in each illustration, there are a number of background pieces to each card, a cloudscape or a picture of a moon or sun or a pool of water and a sheet of notebook paper that looks like it could have been torn out of the artists' sketchbook, with words, phrases and/or other sketched images associated with the image and card which adds a very modern feel to each card, regardless of the illustration.

Another unusual feature that might be good for the beginner is that all the minor arcana cards are labelled for their meaning rather than the number and suite, but the set deviates a little from the usual Tarot in that rather than King, Queen, Knight and Page in the Minor Arcana, there is a Prince, Princess, Queen and Knight, which is a little confusing.

The colors are primarily black, deep blues, rich reds and oranges, pale greys and whites, which, rather than just being dark or muddy, give the impression of being deep underwater or in outer space, or some other dream-like quality to the cards. The backs of the cards are just as beautifully illustrated as the front, with a deep-blue ocean wave against a starscape. These cards are huge (3-1/2" x 6-1/2") which just adds to the appearance of works of art.
