I'd
now like to share a great discovery I made while surfing the net...which
is behavioural optometry...in normal words, it means natural eyesight improvement
techniques. There's this great site (ISEE) on it which I've included
in the links page. But u people are free to choose what u believe
in. For me I'm optimistic that it is possible to improve one's eyesight
because I've read about so many success stories :) But I won't put
down the sceptics either. Everything's subjective in this world :)
I suppose some Singaporeans may already be aware of the possibility of
healing one's eyesight, since one of the famous practitioner, Janet Goodrich,
once gave some workshops here a few months (or years?) back.
Anyway, I'm currently reading one of her books Natural Vision Improvement
(Call Number: 617.7 GOO-[HEA]), which is not only informative
but also very entertaining.
I predict that a lot of people would be shocked at the preventability
of myopia since there's all this talk about genes as the determining
factor of almost everything. Who wouldn't be surprised if they learn
that optometrists were VERY against
spectacles when they were not so widely prescribed. But for those
who're already myopic/astigmatic/hyperopic, it's not too late either, and
we should start off with the basics of the Bates
Method.
To measure your eyesight, you can use the conventional eye
charts to do so. The one found here is the standard Snellen chart
which is the most common we see. In addition, there's also the astigmatic
mirror for astigmatism.
If you are looking for inspiration, here's an article on how one man successfully
conquered
his myopia. And besides the list below, there're a LOT of other
self-help
books out there.
Since everything found here is taken from the ISEE web site, it would be
most helpful if you join
their mailing list.
