Goal setting is an important part
of weight management and fitness program. It is very much like driving, first deciding
where you want to go and planning how to get there. Engaging in a fitness program without
this process is like driving to nowhere. Goal setting helps you to direct your conscious
and subconscious decisions towards success, building up your motivation to achieve your
personal goals. If you are totally committed to reaching your goal, every day and every
thing that you do will be an opportunity to get closer to it. Every exercise day and every
food you put in your mouth, will be more meaningful.
Setting of goals is easy but it has
to fulfill certain criteria in order for you to be successful. The goals that you set

Specific/clear
and measurable.
Attainable.
Challenging.
Time Constrained.
Rewarding.
Broken
into short-term (tasks goal), mid-term and long-term goals (ultimate goal)
