We all want to look good in the shortest possible time and minimum effort. Unless you are blessed with exceptional genetics or take illegal substances (which Fitness Tutor is strongly against) you will not achieve it without a heavy dose of dedication and hard work.

Dedication

What does dedication means? It means you have to prioritize exercise and proper eating above many things else. Things that are of non-importance but drain you of energy and time. Things like watching TV, late nights, excessive socializing, and even over-time work. If you don't do this, you would not ever hope to achieve your dream body. That means you have to center your life around the goal of achieve a great body, at least for a certain period of time. It means you have to sacrifice - a lot. It means you have to resist all temptations that will distract you from success. It means to say no to your friends who offer you a coke or ask you out for a party. It means you have to stick to your scheduled training days no matter what (p.s. the times you shouldn't do this are when you are injured, sick or too tired. Careful though, you have to distinguish what's tiredness and laziness. Sleep when it's time. Eat when it's time. Dedication also means you are not going to give up even if the results are agonizingly slow.

If you are able to do the above, half the battle is already won.

Hard work

How many of you train hard enough to see result? I say maybe only 5% of you who read this does so. That's why most people who are on a program always complain about not getting result they deserved (even if they say they are 100% dedicated). To achieve a great physique, hard work simply cannot be avoided. If any commercial or fitness guru tells you can have a great body simply by popping a pill or doing easy exercises, cover both ears and run away. Not true. Yes it is possible to improve health with some easy exercises, a great body - no. Most people need to exercise and exercise hard enough to produce a body good enough to turn heads. Anybody can have a great body, as long as they work hard for it, not find a short-cut. No pain (not referring to those that relates to injury), no gain applies here.

What then is considered hard work? For those who want to build muscles, it means you have to consistently lift heavier and heavier weights. It means pushing yourself to the point of discomfort. But most people who walk into the gym are using the same weight, year in and year out. That's why their body never improved. For those who are seeking maximum fat-loss and slim body, it means you have to pay your dues on both the weights and cardio exercise. Exercise till you are soaked in sweat. Focus on surpassing the total calories burned each time. Yet most people hardly break a sweat when they do their routine. If you always stay in the comfort zone every time you train, you are not challenging yourself to see great result.

The technical aspects of training have been covered before (and will have more in upcoming issues) but these are two of the most important, if not the most important, tools for success. Envision you are a professional athlete, totally dedicated and will train hard like one. Many of our clients have tried body transformation program and achieved phenomenal results, this is largely because they have dedicated themselves to follow the program diligently! A great body can be yours in no time too, if you are willing to do the same.

See you in the gym!
