In any given date of the year, Funan Centre attracts about 400,000 crowd in a three week period. We plan to attract over 600,000 people to attend the Festival during the three weekend period. Why should my company sponsor such an high-tech affair when we are only a hard drive manufacturer ?

Every computer needs hard drives, especially systems for computer graphic. By supporting such a high profile and high-tech event, consumers tend to associate your products with such a demanding technology. This is the most effective way to advertise your products and support the industry at the same time.

Why should my company sponsor such a high-tech affair when our systems are all PCs?

The theme of the show is "Technology for the Masses". Computer animation is not reserved for only high end workstations. In reality, most computer animation are developed in P.C. and Macintosh environment. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your market by associating your products with such high technology. By demonstrating how your products can run high end animation programs such as Softimage, 3D Studio MAX, Truespace, Lightwave, and etc.. You can benefit a lot because the average cost for an animation workstation is higher than an average P.C.

Why should my company sponsor such an affair at a consumer IT/Lifestyle mall when our systems are workstations which are highly specialised for the professionals only?

The objective of our Festival is to help seed the Asia computer animation industry. To establish an industry, we need participants. By showing the public what computer animation setting is, will make people comfortable with the technology and that they can associate computer animation with computers such as P.C.. This will encourage more people to experience computer animation and eventually set a career in this industry. When more people learn about computer animation, they will gain more proficiency and maturity with the technology. Then, the demand will be placed on your equipment. If they never have a chance to learn about the technology, they will also never have a chance to buy your products.

Why should my company sponsor such an affair when we only manufacture software?

The objective of the Festival is to help seed the Asia computer animation industry. To establish an industry, we need participants. The problem for animation software manufacturers is not their programs but the people. Many people do not know or understand how to use these programs such as True Space, 3D Studio MAX, etc.. available in the market. To them, this technology is not within their reach.

So, software manufacturers must take a step forward to teach and educate the people on how to use their programs which are viewed by many as extremely steep learning curves. By educating and transferring the knowledge to the public will make people comfortable with the technology and they will associate computer animation with your software when they know how to manipulate your program. This will encourage more people to experience computer animation and eventually set a career in this industry. When more people learn about computer animation, they will gain more proficiency and maturity with the technology. Then, the demand will be placed on your software. If they never have a chance to learn about the technology, they will also never have a chance to buy your products.

Why should my company sponsor such a high-tech affair when we are only a printer manufacturer?

Computer graphic also needs to be visualized in paper. Printer providers are an integral part of the computer graphic industry. By associating your products in such a high profile industry and event, people will get to know your products more. ACAF is the first such event in Asia devoted to computer graphic and animation.

How does it benefit the industry, manufacturers and the society at the same time?

Asia today does not have a "Bits and Bytes" industry. This industry is usually associated with high technology countries such as U.S., Canada and Europe. It is also close to impossible to build a "Bits and Bytes" industry based on tools manufacturing, such as building another word processing program, or another 3D program such as Wavefront or Strata Studio Pro, etc.. But we can build a content base "Bits and Bytes" industry in Asia using the tools that are developed by others.

Asia has the rich content waiting to be put into electronic form such as stories, sound, cultures, businesses, education and entertainment. Today, the biggest problem in building such an industry in Asia is not the technology (hardware or software). Our biggest challenge is finding enough people to build the industry. By staging such an affair, we can help and encourage more people realize the potential of the technology so that everyone can participate in. With enough people well versed in the art of computer animation, an industry can be built and eventually those involved in the process will benefit.
