O-RINGS EXPLAINED

An O-ring is a solid-rubber seal shaped like a doughnut or torus.
When pressed between mating surfaces, an O-ring blocks the
passage of liquids or gases. Our O-rings are available in a wide range
of standard sizes that are suitable for nearly all sealing applications.

O-Ring techniques are developing rapidly, and the range of sizes is
growing. Please ask our advice when you require special qualities, or sizes.

When selecting O-Rings, it is important to know that an O-Ring that
is a bit too small may be expanded in the groove up to 5%, and that an
O-Ring that is a bit too large may be compressed in the groove up to 3%.

Two dimensions define the size of an O-ring:  its inside diameter (ID) and
its cross-sectional diameter (CS).  (These dimensions are illustrated above.)

Standard Sizes (Inches)

The standard O-Ring sizes used by Hypax Pte Ltd are defined by
Aerospace Standard AS568A, Aerospace Size Standard for O-ring, and
British (BS1806, BS4518).

Non-Standard Sizes (Metric)

Metric Sizes are available in most millimeter increments.
