New
Millennium
Vs New Fengshui Cycle
(this article
was published in year 2000)
(From
the feng shui viewpoint, the global situation will be subject to a complex
interplay of yin and yang forces that is taking place within the next few
years.)
Fengshui qi or
energy cycles change once every 20 years. With this calculation, the last
20 year-cycle (the 6th cycle) ended in 1983 and the current 20-year cycle
(the 7th cycle) began in 1984 and will end in the year 2003. Thus, the
next 20-year cycle (the 8th cycle) will only begin in the year 2004, only
then will the earth be affected by a new wave of energy. Do take note of
the following:
The
6th Cycle (the Yang Metal) - from 1964 to 1983.
The
7th Cycle (the Yin Metal) - from 1984 to 2003.
The
8th Cycle (the Yang Earth) - from 2004 to 2023.
With
the turn of each new cycle, a new energy or qi influence and
dominate the earth. For e.g. during the 7th cycle (1984 - 2003), Yin
Metal energy is the dominant force and by the turn of the 8th cycle (from
2004 to 2023) Yang Earth energy will dominate. There is also a
transitional period (of one year) after the end of the old cycle and
before the advent of a new cycle. This transitional period is one of
confusion. According to the theory of Dao: "When things have come to
the extreme they will certainly reverse". The strong will start to
decline and the weak will begin to strengthen.
In
the commercial world, the decline of the strong, immediately after 1984
(the end 6th cycle and beginning of the 7th cycle) are plentiful.
Retrospectively, we can recall some of the prominent figures and the
collapse of their empires shortly after 1984. In Hong Kong: George Tan of
the Carrian Group; in Singapore: the Chuas of Cycle & Carriage,
Francis Seow of Lumipax; Ngiam of IPC; Hoo Thye of Chop Hoo Thye; Ho Kok
Cheong of Peoples Park.
In
Malaysia: Tan Koon Swan of Multi-Purpose and Pan Electric and in
Indonesia, Edward Soeyadjaya of the Summa Group.
With
the strong in a state of decline, the peak decline, the weak began to
strengthen gradually and inconspicuously, propped up the new and
favourable wave of energy. Looking at the number of successful
entrepreneurs that had climbed the ladder of success, judging by the way
they had garnered various awards recently, obviously, many of them were
commercially successful after 1984.
Such
periodic changes can also be noticed on ground affecting the Fengshui of
landed properties. We noticed that along old roads such as Geylang Road,
Balestier Road, or even in the Chinatown area, one side of the road is
always busier and better developed than the other. This means that
prosperity do change from side to side periodically (minor change, 10
year; major change 20 years).
At
this juncture, I would like to highlight that many Fengshui works
or remedies done during the 7th cycle (after 1984) could expire by the end
of 2003. The good luck bestowed over all the years as a result of Fengshui
correction (door and table position, water features, painting, etc) may
dissipate upon the arrival of the 8th cycle. Many of these corrections
will be inappropriate and considered obsolete after 2004. Unless they are
removed or re-adjusted, they can turn into bad Fengshui elements
and have adverse effects.
Under
the anxiety of the arrival of a new millennium, I would like to take this
opportunity to draw symmetry with the new Fengshui cycle.
Apparently, being an early starter in the field of Fengshui, I had
witnessed the changing tide between the 6th and 7th cycles with much
concern and dismay. Do not be alarmed, these are Fenghsui facts!
May I have the privilege to be among the few experienced Fengshui
masters to send out early warnings and inform Fengshui practitioners
regarding the changes.
