Tamiya 1/35 M1A1HA Abrams

John Murphy's bold attempt at the NATO tricolors on an OIF Abrams!

I had the great pleasure of meeting John at the Euro Militaire (2005). The 3-toned NATO colours under desert weathering was never an easy task but when the honourable Mr Murphy showed me this master piece, I was lost for words... Nevermind the fact that John used EFD markings, but the 3 tones and the gulf weathering he had painted on top of it was SPOT ON! Exactly like the real vehicle which John had based his build on - missing side skirts and CIP panels, additional fittings, extra baggages, battle weary wheels, etc, etc... In short, his eye for details is truly commendable, precisely how I'd build mine. If I was able to zap an exact replica of the real model and bring it home, I certainly wouldn't hesitate to do so. The photos here does not do the model any real justice as it was photographed under poor lighting conditions, so if you want to get a closer look, be sure to grab a copy of Tamiya Model Magazine issue 120 October 2005!
